💖Helpful Hints💖

Today's blog is going to focus on troubleshooting with KoKo & Claire. The Support Team has been sent a few emails in the last month regarding certain issues that people are having with the product. Let's take this time to go over a few of the issues.

Issue: My KoKo & Claire product doesn't seem to last longer than a day.

Solution:  There is a process in using KoKo & Claire effectively so that you get the most out of your manicure. If the product is coming off within a day, then there is likely an issue with nail preparation. It is very important to prep the natural nail by buffing the shine off and dusting it off. Applying "Clean" to dehydrate the nail and "Prep" just on the very tips of the nails to assist in preventing the gel colors from chipping.

Issue: I have a 48W lamp and I cured a gel poish in it for 90 seconds but it was still very sticky and rolled right off.

Solution: Our 45-60 second cure for our products is based on LED lamps only. If you have a UV lamp, you'll need to do a 2 minute cure.

Issue: I love your polishes and they cure really smooth. I was wondering if I can apply nail foil to the nails and how would I do that?

Solution: You can apply anything you want to the nails. Applying nail foil will involve using foil glue or foil gel. Foil glue is white and, when you apply it, you have to let it dry clear. Once it's clear, it is ready for the foil. Apply a coat of "Shine" or "Matte" over top to give it the look you want. If you want to use Foil Gel, apply it where you want the foil to be, cure it and then press the foil onto the nail. Apply which topcoat you'd like.

Issue: How come my gel wouldn't soak off? They were still sticky after I soaked them off.

Solution: It was likely that you applied "Prep" to the whole nail. "Prep" is only intended to be applied to the very tips of the nails to help prevent our gel polish from chipping. "Prep" works like a glue and if applied it to the whole nail, it will have to be filed or buffed off.

Issue: I apply my "Shine" and after I cure it, it looks like I missed a few spots.

Solution: Gel shrinks a little bit when it's cured so if you do not apply enough, it can shrink and pull away from the nail making it look like you have a reverse puddle. Make sure you are not dry brushing it on. Dry brushing means that you can see the strokes from the brush. You need to have enough on the brush that you are floating it onto the nail from cuticle to free edge.

Issue: Sometimes my fingers feel like they are on fire when I apply the "Strong" or "Shine".

Solution: Our lamp is LED which cures gel in half the time. In order for this to happen, the gel cures a lot faster and there can be a heat spike. Heat spikes can happen if you are more sensitive, your natural nails are damaged or you've applied quite a bit of product.  The thicker you apply the product, the more gel the light has to go through and the more heat it can hold.

Issue: I put a glitter on top after building up my nails and now they're all lumpy.

Solution: Apply a thin coat of glitter and cure. Then apply a second thin coat and cure. If they are slightly lumpy, you can apply a coat of "Shine" and it should take care of that. If they are quite lumpy, you can use a buffer to lightly buff the rough edges to remove them and then apply a coat of "Shine" and cure.
